Peter Gilman Summary: I have been involved with computing and data processing for more than 25 years, studying programming with top marks at University. In my earlier career as a land surveyor, I was instrumental in the integration of computerized data collection equipment into several professional engineering firms. With the advent of the Internet, my interests focused on its core technologies, particularly Unix and networking. In 1999, I became a full time Systems Administrator, continuing my education at University and receiving specialized Solaris training from Sun Microsystems. In 2008, I earned Red Hat Linux certification (RHCT). With this experience, and with my personal integrity, work ethic and motivation, I am confident of achieving my aim: mastery of Unix Systems Administration. Sungard Computer Services (Burlington, MA, USA) In April 2006 I was promoted to Systems Administrator and relocated to the company's Boston area office. My duties involved administration of a wide range of computer systems in a 24x7, high-pressure, realtime datacenter environment. Working within a geographically distributed team, I was my division's sole onsite administrator in the firm's second largest datacenter and primary disaster recovery site. I was responsible for the deployment of new systems as well as maintenance of existing ones, both onsite and remote. I was involved in issue resolution from both production and development standpoints; I also interfaced directly with clients, addressing their needs and concerns as they arose.

heterogenous server systems
Sungard Data Management Services (Voorhees, NJ, USA) My duties as a systems operator at Sungard involved application support of several proprietary financial data applications, as well as monitoring of and problem resolution for a wide range of computing and network systems.
+ Support of custom financial market data applications Sabbatical (Europe; 06/2001 - 05/2005) Following the "dot-com crash" (see below), I chose to spend some time with friends and family in Switzerland and England. During this time, I continued my IT education on my own as well as doing some freelance work.
