Summary:

I have been involved with computing and data processing for more than 25 years, studying programming with top marks at University.  In my earlier career as a land surveyor, I was instrumental in the integration of computerized data collection equipment into several professional engineering firms.  With the advent of the Internet, my interests focused on its core technologies, particularly Unix and networking.  In 1999, I became a full time Systems Administrator, continuing my education at University and receiving specialized Solaris training from Sun Microsystems.  In 2008, I earned Red Hat Linux certification (RHCT).  With this experience, and with my personal integrity, work ethic and motivation, I am confident of achieving my aim: mastery of Unix Systems Administration.


Objective:

To secure a Unix systems administrator position which will allow me to contribute my current abilities while affording me the opportunity to continue to develop my skill set.

In April 2006 I was promoted to Systems Administrator and relocated to the company's Boston area office.  My duties involved administration of a wide range of computer systems in a 24x7, high-pressure, realtime datacenter environment.  Working within a geographically distributed team, I was my division's sole onsite administrator in the firm's second largest datacenter and primary disaster recovery site.  I was responsible for the deployment of new systems as well as maintenance of existing ones, both onsite and remote.  I was involved in issue resolution from both production and development standpoints; I also interfaced directly with clients, addressing their needs and concerns as they arose.
